Annual Halloween event in the city centre on the Sunday before Halloween
Fright Night is an annual Halloween event in Sheffield that takes place in the city centre on the Sunday before Halloween. During the event all of the roads surrounding the Millennium Gardens are closed off between 3.30pm and 8.30pm.
The event includes street performances, live music, fancy dress parades and funfairs. During Fright Night many “props” such as haunted houses appear and there are numerous craft stalls and fast food outlets.
Fright Night takes place between Fargate and the Town Hall but is centred around the Millennium Gardens. Coinciding with this an event specifically aimed at younger children called Fright Night’s Little Brother takes place on The Moor between midday and 3pm.
Fright Night attracts around 40,000 people, making it the largest event of its kind in the UK. It is organised by the Yellow Bus Events Company (formerly known as The Sheffield Events Company). Admission is free.
